Honors named Signature Program

We are pleased to announce that the University of Maine has named the Honors College as one of seven Signature areas of research and educational excellence. The College is known for its ability to foster the research and creative work of some of UMaine’s best and brightest students while providing a rigorous approach to the liberal arts core. One of the oldest and most respected Honors programs in the country, the tradition of personalized teaching of legendary Maine professors like Vincent Hartgen and Robert Thomson has been adapted to meet the needs of a growing number of in-state and out-of state students. The intellectual breadth and scholarly depth of the highly interdisciplinary faculty provide unique opportunities for our students. Small classes combined with the living-learning communities of Colvin and Balentine Halls provide Honors students with an exemplary student-centered and community-engaged learning experience. The College continues to innovate, build capacity, create partnerships and enhance the lives of Maine’s future leaders in business, science, education, and the arts.  See the full announcement about Signature and Emerging programs.
