Brittany Ott Honored to 2009-2010 WHEA All-Rookie Team

WAKEFIELD, MASS — University of Maine freshman goaltender Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) has been named to the Women’s Hockey East Association All-Rookie team, as announced by the WHEA today. Ott finished the season with a 4-12-3 record, 3-9-2 in WHEA play, making 558 saves for a .918 save percentage to go along with a 2.60 goals against average.

One of Ott’s highlights of the 2009-2010 campaign came on Nov. 15, 2009 when she picked up a shutout victory over, then, #9 Northeastern at their home rink. Ott made 34 saves in the contest for the Black Bears. Eleven times during the 2009-2010 season Ott made more than 30 saves in a game, including a career-high 41 in a shootout victory on Nov. 6 at Alfond Arena against Providence College.

In WHEA action, Ott recorded a 2.33 GAA and a .932 save percentage for the Black Bears, making 452 saves in conference play, which ranked second among WHEA goaltenders.

Joining Ott on the WHEA All-Rookie team are Blake Bolden (Defenseman – Boston College), Brittany Esposito (Forward – Northeastern), Jill Cardella (Forward – Boston University), Kristina Lavoie (Forward – New Hampshire), and Ashley Motherwell (Forward – Boston College).
