Feature Friday: Avery Gosselin ’23
The Honors College’s Feature Friday series highlights an Honors student every Friday and shares a little bit about their experiences in Honors and at the University of Maine. This week, our profile is on Avery Gosselin.
Avery is a second-year Computer Science major from Burnham, Maine. His favorite thing about Honors so far is “HON 175 and going to Hurricane Island!” His favorite Civilizations texts is American Indian Myths and Legends.
Around Orono and on campus, Avery likes the Orono Community Garden and the UMaine Bodwell Center.
Avery is involved with the Honors College’s Servant Heart Research Collaborative, where he works on the National Exam Testing Tool (NETT) project.
Regarding NETT, Avery said, “At NETT (National Exam Test Tool), we develop software for students in Sierra Leone to study for their national exams.
It has been an amazing experience just learning so many new things every day. It feels really good to see people using and benefiting so much from something that you are a part of creating.
I️ will never be able to thank Associate Dean Ladenheim enough for approaching me on Hurricane Island and telling me about it!”
