Feature Friday: Jacob Chaplin ’24

The Honors College’s Feature Friday series highlights an Honors student every Friday and shares a little bit about their experiences in Honors and at the University of Maine.

This week, our feature is on Jacob Chaplin. Jacob is a first-year political science major with minors in leadership studies and legal studies. He is from Blackstone, Massachusetts.

Jacob’s favorite part of being in the Honors College is the community it provides, particularly through his involvement in Honors College Student Advisory Board and the Honors Student Ambassadors program.

His favorite Honors text is The Odyssey by Homer. “I love the culture it represents and reading about Greek mythology,” described Jacob.

Jacob loves UMaine’s location and how it has “miles of trails and wilderness to explore!”

Jacob worked as the social media coordinator for this year’s Maine Day Meal Packout (MDMP) Hunger Awareness Campaign. “[It] is my favorite extracurricular activity that I have experienced so far due to the impact that it had within our community. I am excited to see it at its full scale when COVID is over!” said Jacob.
