Honors College Students Named 2012 UMaine Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Congratulations to honors students Rachel Binder-Hathaway and Kayla Peard for being named 2012’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian! Rachel Binder-Hathaway, is a dual financial economics and business administration graduate, who wrote her Honors Thesis on microfinance and the alleviation of poverty. She is currently a Fulbright Fellow in Bangladesh helping impoverished people gain access to microloans and other aid services.
Salutatorian Kayla Peard graduated with a degree in Music Education. She wrote her honors thesis, The Case for Instrumental Music Education: The Academic, Physical, and Social Benefits for Students, on how abilities and skills developed through music education go beyond the classroom.
