Cristina Arrigoni Martelli

Dr. Arrigoni Martelli holds an MA in English from the University of Maine and a PhD in Environmental
History and European History from York University, Toronto. Her dissertation involved hunting in
Medieval North-central Italy and she has published in that field. Her research interests involve human-
animal relationships and conservation. Cristina is also a professional dog trainer and a Registered Maine
Guide of 11 years. She is an avid bird hunter who lives off-grid with her dogs. When classes are in
session the dogs take turns functioning as teaching assistants.
