The Honors Thesis
The Honors thesis is an opportunity for students to work closely with a member of the faculty who serves as their Honors thesis advisor on an independent research or creative endeavor that brings their undergraduate academic experience to a conclusion. In many cases, the Honors thesis will satisfy the “capstone” general education requirement. Contact the department chair for information on whether the Honors thesis meets the capstone requirement for your major.
Students joining the Honors College in Fall 2025 who choose the thesis option will embark on their thesis in the spring of the junior year beginning with HON 498, followed by HON 499 in the fall of their senior year. Information about specific requirements and steps related to undertaking thesis research will be provided in a module currently under development that students will complete before enrolling in HON 498.
