Artwork by Jill Pelto ’15H Featured as Time Magazine Cover
Jill Pelto, a 2015 Honors graduate, recently had her artwork featured on the cover of TIME magazine for their July 20, 2020 issue, titled “One Last Chance.” Jill, who studied Studio Art and Earth & Climate Sciences, weaves climate change data into her art. TIME also published an article about Jill and her recent accomplishments – click here to read the article.
This isn’t the first time Pelto’s work has graced the cover of a magazine – in fact, her art appeared on the front and back covers of the 2015 edition of the Honors College’s own annual publication, Minerva. The issue also featured a story on Jill and her work at the time of her graduation. The full 2015 edition of Minerva is available online by clicking here.
Pelto’s 2015 Honors thesis, titled “Art as a Tool to Communicate Science,” reflects upon the history of artists using their media in order to communicate science to the public. It also shares a beautiful and informative portfolio of Jill’s artwork. Click here to read Jill’s Honors thesis on the Digital Commons.
It is always amazing to see what our Honors alumni and students accomplish. We extend our congratulations to Jill for this exciting achievement!
