Honors Students Spoke At Reception For Folklore Research Fund
Two Honors students, Hilary Warner-Evans and Taylor Cunningham, spoke at a reception Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Buchanan Alumni House celebrating a new fund that has been established to support students doing research in folklore, oral history, and ethnography. The fund was established this year with a gift from David Taylor and LeeEllen Friedland. The fund is dedicated to the memory of Sandy Ives, the founder of the Maine folklore center, and to his wife Bobby.
Both students have done and continue to do research on Maine’s relationship with hermits and outlaws. They are currently researching songs and ballads written about the North Pond Hermit, as well as conducting interviews, that will be part of a co-written book by the Maine Hermit Project lab, edited by CLAS-Honors Preceptor of English, Dr. Sarah Harlan-Haughey
